Hledám toto místo.
When to use
Use this while pointing to an address, business name, or map pin. It states what you are looking for; follow it with a pause or a polite 'prosím' when inviting someone to help.
How it works
Czech normally omits the subject pronoun when the verb ending already identifies it. 'Hledám' is 'I am looking for'. The useful pattern is 'hledat' + accusative: the thing being sought is the direct object.
- Hledám: I am looking for; first-person singular present tense of 'hledat' (imperfective verb)
- toto místo: this place; neuter accusative object
Case and Agreement
'Místo' is a neuter noun. 'Toto' (this) agrees with it in gender, number, and case. For an inanimate neuter noun, the accusative forms 'toto' and 'místo' look the same as the nominative, so the verb and sentence role reveal that this is the object.
- hledat + accusative: to look for someone or something
Notes
Say this while showing an address or map pin when you need help finding a specific place.
